Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly made a surprising announcement earlier this month on January 3rd declaring that she would be leaving the network and taking a new job at NBC. As part of her move, Kelly will host a new daily show on NBC, anchor a Sunday evening show, and report breaking news coverage for the network. Sources have also reported that her daily show is set to take over either the 9 o’clock or 10 o’clock hour of the Today show. Kelly, who was host of the popular Fox primetime show The Kelly File, has said her departure is primarily so she can spend more time with her family and not because of a salary increase. (Although, the salary details of her contract with NBC have yet to be released.) Megyn announced her show at Fox would end on January 6th and delivered an emotional goodbye saying, “After more than a dozen years at Fox News, I have decided to pursue a new challenge. I am very grateful to NBC for this opportunity and I am deeply thankful to Fox News for the wonderful 12 years I have had here. I have grown up here and been given every chance a young reporter could ever ask for… thank you for watching. With love.” Reporter Tucker Carlson is set to take Kelly’s spot on the Fox News Channel and Megyn is said to begin work for NBC in the fall.
