Krzyzewski’s Basketball Ban

Mike Krzyzewski, the head of the Duke men’s basketball team, recently told players they are banned from entering the team’s locker room and wearing Duke apparel, according to ESPN. Krzyzewski, who is still recovering from back surgery, apparently gave the order to Duke players during a meeting at his house on Tuesday, January 24th. Krzyzewski’s decree comes after Duke has lost three out of its last four games, including a loss to unranked NC State with 84-82 being the final score. While there is no known date of when the ban is set to end, a source close to ESPN reported that Coach Krzyzewski would not allow players to wear Duke apparel or reenter their locker room “until players start living up to the standards of the Duke program.” Although, some sources say this tactic has been employed and worked well in the past, only time will tell whether or not this punishment will provide enough motivation for Duke players to start winning again.
