On December the 28th, Air Asia Flight 8501 from Indonesia seemingly vanished after requesting permission to fly above a group of storm clouds. All communication was lost with the plane and it was speculated that the plane crashed. Days later a search party found wreckage from the plane in the Java Sea. The flight had 162 passengers on board and so far no survivors have been found. Crews have recovered the bodies of at least 34 of the passengers. Several countries, including Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and the United States, have crews that are still actively searching for wreckage, bodies, and any survivors. While it remains unclear what caused the crash, hopefully the mystery of Air Asia Flight 8501 will soon be solved.
