After last year’s performance by Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Americans have watched with great anticipation to see who would be announced as this year’s Super Bowl halftime performer. While the final decision has not been made, the field has been narrowed down to just 3 artists: Coldplay, Rihanna, and Katy Perry. There’s just one problem. The Super Bowl would like these artists to pay to play at the halftime show and all have been reluctant to respond. The NFL argues that the show would have a massive audience and likely trigger a boost in sales for the artists. It was reported the last year’s halftime show had roughly 115.3 million viewers. But it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming months and if any agreement between the performers and the league will be reached.
