On March 10th, several Democrats in the Senate decided to have an all night “talkathon” to raise awareness for climate change. The event began on Monday morning and was held until around 9 o’clock the next morning. In total, the event lasted roughly 14 hours and about 30 senators took the floor. Even a new Twitter hashtag was created just for the event, #Up4Climate. Many people believed the Senators were trying to filibuster a new climate change law, however, that was not the case. It appears that senators simply organized the event just to raise awareness about climate change. In fact, several organizers admitted that climate change legislation doesn’t even have a shot in Congress right now.
