On December 5, NBC aired the “Sound of Music LIVE” which starred Carrie Underwood. The show, as the name implies, was aired live and began at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. The show was based on the 1965 film starring Julie Andrews. The performance lasted 3 hours and was the first live musical broadcast on TV in over 50 years. The show received mixed reviews, but it was said over 18.6 million viewers tuned in to watch.
