Recently, a lawsuit was filed against Paula Deen. Lisa Jackson, a former manager of a restaurant run by the Deen family, accused Paula Deen of discrimination. Paula Deen, a long time star on the Food Network, confessed that she had used the n-word and told a few racist jokes. Paula released a video apologizing for her actions. The Food Network was quick to respond saying, “Food Network does not tolerate any form of discrimination and is a strong proponent of diversity and inclusion.” Then the Food Network terminated Paula’s contract. Many fans were infuriated. Fans flocked to Facebook and Twitter to comment on the issue. A “We Support Paula Deen” Facebook page was founded and has over 585 thousand “likes”. Some wish to boycott the Food Network, others hope another network may pick her up. While no one can be sure what will happen, this is sure to not be the end of Queen Deen.

UPDATE:

Earlier this summer, Paula Deen was accused of racial discrimination by former restaurant manager Lisa Jackson. Well, now the judge has dismissed the lawsuit and Paula has emerged for the first time since her apology. She made a triumphant return at the Metro Cooking Entertaining Show in Houston, Texas, in front of nearly 1,500 people. She began crying and said, “These are tears of joy, y'all… I've said all along that the one place I'd want to make my first step back out is Texas… Y'all's hearts are as big as your state.” Paula noted that she had been through a “rough patch” and soon began cooking, on stage, with her two sons. At the end of the event she received a standing ovation and it was reported tickets went for up to $400. While Paula may have been through a “rough patch” it looks like she is making a comeback.
