Canada Discontinues the Penny

The Royal Canadian Mint ended their production of the Canadian penny. Canada has stopped producing the penny to save money. Many people wonder if the U.S. should do the same. It costs the U.S. around 2 cents to create a penny and it is reported the U.S. spends around 44 million on penny production per year. Some think this may be one answer to help pay down the growing national deficit.
